It’s going to be a sweet memory and sweet taste affair for Nagaland this November. Scheduled from 23rd to 27th of November 2010, Nagaland will be hosting an Expo on honey to be held concurrently with the Second North-East Agri Expo 2010.

Hosted by the Government of Nagaland, with the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) as the co-organiser sponsors such as the Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region (DONER) and other central agencies, the Expo is themed on ‘Economic Progress and Prosperity’.

The NE Agri Expo aims at creating an opportunity for transfer of ideas, knowledge and technology for the growth of agricultural economy and business. This expo is the convergence of stakeholders in the Agriculture and Allied sectors from the eight states of the North Eastern Region of India viz. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.

Venue: North-East Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile, Dimapur, Nagaland

Organisations and companies from neighboring countries, institutions, universities, business and corporate houses as well as from the rest of India, private entrepreneurs, SHG’s etc., will also participate in the Expo.  The components of the event will include exhibition and display stalls, thematic pavilions, state pavilions, livestock show, farm & food processing technologies, machinery & services pavilion, international pavilion, conferences & meets. Adding an ethnic flavour to the event, cultural extravaganzas and traditional food festivals will also be held.

Organised for the first time by the Nagaland Government, the Honey Fest 2010 will give an opportunity to interact, explore, collaborate, exchange learnings and experiences about the beekeeping business. People who are passionately involved in the beekeeping and honey sector from India and neighbouring countries and particularly the beekeeping community of the North- Eastern Region of India is expected to come together during the Expo.

The Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey mission will host and organise the festival by providing exhibition stalls for participants who are involved with beekeeping and honey enterprise. It will also showcase the beekeeping scenario of Nagaland and involve the participation of local beekeepers and entrepreneurs in the sector.
