A two-day long field trip was made in October 2019 to Guwahati (Assam) for exploring the Urban Ecotourism potential of Guwahati city. Urban Ecotourism is part of the overall Ecotourism Development initiative led by the Delhi Greens NGO, with greater focus on the North-east through Project NE Greens.
The following sites in Guwahati were visited and explored:
- Umananda Temple Island
- River Brahamaputra waterfront
- Guwahati Zoo
- Kamakhya Temple
- Deepor Beel Wetland
The objective of Urban Ecotourism initiative is to invite the citizens of the respective city to experience and learn about the ecosystem services they receive from different ecological landscapes located within the city.
