Climate change is now here and the fragile NE Region is more vulnerable to it. The global carbon dioxide concentration has already crossed the 400 ppm mark and nations around the work are now shifting from mitigating climate change to adapting to the risks associated with it.
Already, agriculture has been severely hit in the North-east region and other impacts of climate change are being felt, but are yet to be studied and established. There is an urgent need to revive and dwell on local and traditional knowledge and begin preparing plans for adapting to the changing climate.
